Clinton started out his career as a medical doctor in South Africa, but soon changed course to co-found various web startups including Virgin Wines (with Laura Knight) —an online wine retailer—and Web Announcements Ltd—birth, marriage, and death notices online—which went on to successful exit.
In 2012, Clinton joined Elastic (elastic.co) as the seventh employee, moving to head up the development team responsible for the Elastic Stack. Two years after a successful IPO, he retired from full time employment and now lives in Rome.
